Possible Uses of Cleocin: This medicine is a lincomycin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections.
Before using Cleocin: WARNING: This medicine should be used only for serious infections because infrequently there are severe, rarely fatal, intestinal problems (pseudomembranous colitis) that can occur. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details. Notify your doctor immediately if you develop persistent diarrhea, abdominal or stomach pain, or blood/mucous in your stool. Your doctor will decide if you require other treatment. These symptoms may occur weeks after stopping use of this drug. Do not use anti-diarrhea products or narcotic pain medicines if you have these symptoms. These products may make the symptoms worse. Your doctor will monitor you closely while you are using this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including colon conditions, severe diarrhea with mucus or blood, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.
How to take Cleocin: Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. TAKE THIS MEDICINE WITH A FULL GLASS (8 oz./240 ml) OF WATER. This medicine may be taken on an empty stomach or with food. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. CONTINUE TO TAKE THIS MEDICINE even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Precautions When Using Cleocin: DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are taking this medicine. Laboratory and/or medical tests, such as liver and kidney function tests or complete blood counts, may be done if you are taking this medicine for a long period of time to monitor your progress or to check for side effects. IF YOUR SYMPTOMS DO NOT IMPROVE within a few days or if they become worse, check with your doctor.
