Apply a tiny amount of medication to the damaged skin after waiting 10 minutes, just enough to cover the area with a thin film. Even if you used gloves when applying this medication, wash your hands right away.
During treatment and perhaps for a few weeks after, the treated region may become unattractive. Avoid using plastic bandages or tight dressings to enclose the region. Ask your doctor if you can use some gauze to loosely wrap the treated area.
Applying this medication on or near the eyes or eyelids is not advised. Additionally, avoid applying this drug inside the mouth or nose. If you do manage to get the medication in these regions, give them a thorough rinsing.
Use this medication as directed by your doctor. Without first consulting your doctor, do not discontinue using this drug. Don't use it more frequently or at a higher dose than recommended. Your condition won't improve more quickly, but negative effects will worsen.

Wait two hours after applying the fluorouracil cream before covering the treated area with sunscreen or moisturiser. Except as directed by your doctor, avoid using any other skin care products, including creams, lotions, medicines, or cosmetics. If you get skin blisters or redness, or if you suffer a sunburn, call your doctor right away.
Inform your surgeon or dentist of all the products you use prior to surgery (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products).
