Possible Uses of Vildagliptin :
Galvus is used to treat type-2 diabetes mellitus. It can be used in the following ways:

• on its own (monotherapy) in patients whose diabetes is not sufficiently controlled by diet and exercise and who cannot take metformin;
• together with metformin, a thiazolidinedione or a sulphonylurea (dual therapy) when the patient’s diabetes is insufficiently controlled by this other medicine taken alone, but it is only used in combination with a sulphonylurea in patients who cannot take metformin;
• together with a sulphonylurea and metformin (triple therapy) in patients whose diabetes is not sufficiently controlled by these medicines plus diet and exercise;
• together with insulin (with or without metformin) in patients whose diabetes is not sufficiently controlled by diet and exercise plus a stable dose of insulin.

Before using Vildagliptin :
Before taking Vildagliptin, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which

How to take Vildagliptin :
In adults, the recommended dose of Galvus is:

• one tablet in the morning and another in the evening (100 mg per day), when used alone, with metformin, with a thiazolidinedione, with metformin plus a sulphonylurea, or with insulin (with or without metformin);
• one tablet in the morning (50 mg per day) when taken with a sulphonylurea. A lower dose of the sulphonylurea may also be considered to reduce the risk of hypoglycaemia (low blood glucose levels).

The daily dose should not exceed two tablets (100 mg). In patients with moderate or severe kidney problems, the recommended dose is 50 mg once daily.

Pregnancy
This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless absolutely necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine. Your doctor may prescribe a safer alternative based on your clinical condition.

Breast-feeding

General warnings
Insulin secretagogues
This medicine should be used with caution in patients who are using insulin secretagogues due to the increased risk of hypoglycemia. Close monitoring of blood sugar levels is recommended for such patients.

Bullous pemphigoid
This medicine should be used with caution due to the increased risk of bullous pemphigoid, a hypersensitivity reaction of the skin. Any unusual symptoms such as skin blisters or skin rashes should be reported to the doctor on priority. Therapy with the medicine may be discontinued based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Arthralgia
This medicine should be used with caution in patients with a known history of severe arthralgia due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Replacement with a suitable alternative should be done under your doctor's supervision.

Pediatric Use
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Side Effects of Vildagliptin :
