  5. Reduces or stops unwanted breast milk production (galactorrhea) in women who are not breastfeeding.

How Generic Dostinex Works

Generic Dostinex contains cabergoline, a long-acting dopamine receptor agonist that works by stimulating dopamine D2 receptors in the pituitary gland. Dopamine is a natural brain chemical that inhibits the release of prolactin, a hormone responsible for breast milk production and reproductive function.

When prolactin levels become too high (a condition called hyperprolactinemia), it can cause irregular or absent menstrual periods, infertility, decreased sexual desire, and unwanted breast milk secretion. Cabergoline acts like dopamine to suppress excessive prolactin secretion, thereby restoring hormonal balance.

As prolactin levels return to normal, menstrual cycles normalize, ovulation resumes, and fertility improves in women. In men, it helps restore testosterone levels and sexual function. The drug also helps reduce the size and activity of prolactin-producing pituitary tumors (prolactinomas), improving related symptoms.
