How Generic Epivir Works

Generic Retrovir interferes with HIV’s ability to multiply by acting as a faulty nucleoside during viral DNA synthesis. Once incorporated into the viral DNA chain, it stops further DNA elongation, halting replication.

Although it does not cure HIV, Retrovir significantly reduces viral load and helps preserve immune function when used consistently with other antiretroviral medicines. It has a well-established role in HIV treatment and prevention, including prevention of mother-to-child transmission.
